According to the June report on US Manufacturing Statistics manufacturing remains strong and hit its highest for 2014. New orders for US manufacturing sectors in automobiles, computers, chemicals and other products caused the index to reach 55.3%. American manufacturers don’t give the beginning of the year numbers much thought and suggest it was an anomaly since new orders jumped 2 points bringing it to 58.9 %.
Given the recent report and other industry factors we wanted to look at the number ourselves. Using statistics reported by the BLS and other governmental agencies we compiled this manufacturing infographic. Most of the data available to us was for the years 2012 and 2013 while the forwarding looking data reached to 2020.
